Our Stories
My son has been buried in Bredhurst new burial ground since 1994, up until about 5 years ago it was such a lovely graveyard where we could go and tend our sons grave, we would put small momento's like a small Angel and at Christmas a small Nativity set on the plinth of the gravestone, I would sit there and felt close to my son and found it a peaceful and beautiful place.
A new vicar came to St Peter's and everything began to change, most of the graves were cleared of the flowers and property that meant so much to our loved ones and all of this was thrown and broken to the back of the graveyard in a big pile.
Then I lost my other son and felt that no way could I have him buried at Bredhurst he left a 20 year old daughter and I couldn't put her through what we have gone through with the heartache of seeing our graves go from a beautiful place to remember our loved ones to a barren cold field.
The guilt I feel that one son's grave is beautiful and so colourful and one son's grave is empty. We feel that we are trespassing, and we very seldom visit now and I'm heartbroken that my son thinks we have abandoned him. I really hope that the church can show some compassion.
