Why BCBF?

We have been asked many times about the name of our Forum, our Group. Why Bredhurst? Why Bereavement? Why Community? The answers are very simple.

Bredhurst – The particular issues are all related to St Peter’s new burial ground – location Bredhurst.

Community – The definition of Community: ‘a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common’. We are from the Parish of South Gillingham which covers Bredhurst, Wigmore, Parkwood, Hempstead and as such can choose to be buried within the parish. Our group is made up of people from all the four areas that make up the parish, many live, have lived, or have a strong connection with Bredhurst as well as the rest of the parish. We are ‘the community’.

Bereavement – we are the bereaved, our loved ones are at St Peter’s. Our connections to each other are our loved ones.

Forum - ‘a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged’

These are the reasons behind the name but we do not exclude others not from our community. If you are bereaved or have had similar issues then you are welcome to our Forum. Your comments and views are indeed valid.
